Readathon Summer Party 2022

Hosted by the marvellous M G Leonard, our very first ‘Readathon Summer Party’ took place, LIVE, on Thursday 23 June to thank the many schools who got their pupils reading and raising this year to help us bring the magic of books and storytellers to children in hospitals across the UK.

The virtual event featured a favourite poem, Chocolate Cake, performed by Michael Rosen, a flying pony draw-along with Sarah McIntyre and inspiration to dream big with Manjeet Mann.

In addition, one of Read for Good’s fabulous storytellers, Michael Loader, treated us to some ‘3D storytelling’ and shared how money raised by pupils running Readathon helps him to make a real difference to children stuck in hospital. Plus, our Readathon Ambassador, Phil Tite from Edward Bryant School, shared some brilliant book recommendations: The Rock from the Sky by John Klassen, Noah’s Gold by Frank Cotterell-Boyce, Wildspark by Vashti Hardy.

M G Leonard also ran a quiz throughout the event, related to her brilliant books Twitch and the Beetle Boy and Adventures on Trains series, with ten lucky schools receiving a book bundle for getting every question correct.

Thank you to all the schools who joined us to celebrate this year’s Readathons – sign up for your 2022-2023 Readathon now!
