Readathon trainee teachers’ session

Read for Good’s Readathon Manager, Lucy Robinson, met with trainee teachers at the Institute of Education at UCL, London, to share how Readathon, and our other free resources, can help get kids reading for pleasure.

The hour-long session on 13 September 2022 also gave students an opportunity to discuss their approach to reading for pleasure, including best practice and existing barriers to reading that they may have observed in schools.

Having run a similar session virtually with the IOE last year, it was wonderful to be able to meet the students in person again to discuss reading for pleasure in schools.

“The visit from Lucy Robinson from Read for Good was fantastic.  Our student teachers on the Primary PGCE found her session on reading for pleasure and the Readathon really engaging.  Lucy’s knowledge helped the students develop their understanding of how to support children as readers, and to encourage children to read widely.  In addition, it is great to know how Read for Good works as a charity, and the brilliant and important work they do to support children in hospitals to have access to books.”
