Our First London Marathon

For the first time in our charity’s history, a runner has taken part in the London Marathon in support of Read for Good.

On Sunday 3rd October 2021, our inspiring supporter Jane France completed the Virgin Money Virtual London Marathon; her endeavour will help us bring the undiluted magic of books and stories to children in hospitals across the UK.

The Virgin Money London Marathon is the largest annual fundraising event on the planet; since it began in 1981, participants have raised more than £1 billion for good causes – including ours now! In a spectacular return after the Covid 19 pandemic, over 40,000 runners took part virtually in this year’s eagerly awaited event. In Read for Good’s recognisable orange colours Jane completed her 26.2 miles with a fantastic time of 6 hours and 19 minutes.

Jane’s incredible effort has raised over £1000 with contributions from more than 50 different donors, and it’s not too late to get involved: share your support by visiting Jane’s JustGiving page here.
