Volunteering for us

We have a lot of lovely people asking if they can volunteer to read or tell stories to children in hospital. Unfortunately, each individual hospital has its own volunteer process, and so it’s not something we are able to offer ourselves. Our storytellers are professionally trained and undergo rigorous checks, reference and training before they are able to work on the wards with children. But it’s always worth contacting your local hospital to find out what volunteering opportunties they have.

We occasionally have vacancies for office volunteers, who carry out a huge range of tasks that play a vital role in delivering our work. They support the huge logistical operation to deliver over 25,000 brand new books to children’s hospitals around the UK every year. There’s definitely a bit of magic dust in the air around our volunteers.

We don’t have any vacancies at present, but if you would like to join our waiting list please email cherry@readforgood.org.

And finally…one thing you can always do is encourage your local school to run Readathon or find other ways to help here!
