Our work in the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital

The young patients of this huge hospital in the centre of Manchester have been benefiting from our regular supply of books and storyteller visits since 2014. Manchester is one of the UK’s biggest and busiest hospitals, and we’ve delivered nearly 15,000 incredible, brand new books to the hospital since we launched.

Books can play a vital role in improving the experience of a child being in hospital – providing escape and distraction, comfort and reassurance.

Our storyteller, Chelsea, started work on wards of Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital in 2024, creating and sharing stories and books with the young patients and their families. She spends time on all the wards – from neo-natal units to teenage cancer wards, bringing joy, laughters and stories to the whole place.
