Our work in the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow
We’ve been bringing brand new books and regular storytelling visits to children at the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow in Scotland since 2013 when our service was launched by the fabulous illustrator and author, Nick Sharratt.
We are very lucky that there is a brilliant volunteer team at Glasgow, working under the direction of the Clinical Services Manager, and they work hard to ensure our books are accessible for as many children as possible in the hospital.
“The books and storyteller service is amazing, and thank you so, so much for your continued efforts, it’s absolutely brilliant and so very appreciated.”
Coral Brady, Clinical Services Manager
Our Scottish storyteller, Gerry, born and bred in Glasgow himself, brightens up the long days in hospital experienced by children and their families, telling stories and singing songs and putting smiles on faces.
“The storytellers are fantastic for children whilst in hospital. Tristan has chronic underlying health conditions, pain is very hard to manage and Gerry helped cheer him up so much. We appreciated it more than words can say.”
