Read Gloucestershire! Information for media

Read Gloucestershire is a county-wide campaign to unleash and champion the power of reading for fun.

Schools across the county are joining forces with library services, community groups, theatres, sports clubs and festivals in a two-year initiative led by children’s charity, Read for Good.

Schools can run a Readathon in your school or apply to join our Big Read, help get books and stories to children at Royal Gloucestershire or drop everything and read in your workplace.

Schools can register interest in the campaign by emailing: gloucestershire@readforgood.org

“Over the last few years, we’ve been uniting schools across whole cities like Liverpool, Leicester and Manchester. Now it’s the turn of our home turf! There’s robust evidence underpinning our Read Gloucestershire campaign: not only do children who learn to love reading do better at school, but most of all – especially at the moment – reading builds empathy and is great for emotional wellbeing.”

Justine Daniels, Read for Good CEO

READ Gloucestershire! is run by Read for Good with support from Gloucestershire Libraries, Gloucestershire Community Foundation, and John Lewis & Partners, Cheltenham.
