Readathon is a simple sponsored read designed to get kids reading. Pupils are motivated because the money they raise by reading helps gets books to children in hospital (their need is greater than ever right now).
To order your kit, click the orange button below. If you don’t already have a Portal account, it only takes a minute to create one. You will need to verify your email address before you can order – if you don’t see an email from “Read for Good” please check your spam/junk folder!
And there’s more…
When you run your Readathon, as well as getting a classroom full of readers, the money raised helps us buy books for children in hospital throughout the UK. And they’ve had a really hard time – tough visitor restrictions, stretched staff, PPE all around – we know that our books are one of the few things that haven’t been restricted during the pandemic.
And, if that hasn’t convinced you, your school will also get free book vouchers worth 20% of whatever you raise to help boost your book stocks. It really is a win-win. To find out more about Readathon click here.
“We ran Readathon over two weeks and the enthusiasm for reading was clear for all to see. Readathon helped to establish good home reading habits which have been maintained since AND there is definitely more of a buzz about reading through the whole school!”Phil Tite, Edward Bryant School
What do I need to do?
Just order the Readathon kit by clicking here – let us know how many pupils are taking part (we send a sponsor card and bookmark for each), and roughly when you’d like to run it. We can send your kit to you now, or at the start of a future term. It’s up to you.
When you order your kit, you’ll receive the link to the exclusive author content, which you are free to share with pupils.
Most schools run Readathon for a few weeks – it’s completely flexible and will work around existing plans. You can run it when you like – Libraries Week in October, over half terms work well, World Book Day, post summer exams or SATs – whatever works for your school. The more pupils you involve, the better it works. And engaging staff, parents and the wider school community through social media, newsletters and websites is usually very effective.
Teachers – you’re heroic! Watch this important message from award-winning, best-selling author, M.G.Leonard
*Free books are available while stocks last, and only for kits delivered now or in the first week of the September term.
