No Readathon running in your school? Take a tip from Shannon Bennett and organise your own!

Hi, I’m Shannon Bennett and I’m 12 years old. In September 2016, I was admitted into hospital with a severe chest infection. As I was in hospital for a couple of days, I got bored with reading my own books.

But when I went to look at the books provided by Readathon, it turned out that I had read most of them too. I was introduced to raising money for Readathon by Adele, a lovely lady who told my mum and I a story at my bedside. She explained how I could help Readathon by raising money with my school for new books for children in hospital. I decided I really wanted to help. I arranged with my teacher at school to order the free kit and got a group of friends together. I had a few meetings with my teacher  at lunchtime. I was really pleased that we raised £400 for Readathon and I really enjoyed reading the books too – 12 books in 7 weeks!
