We are pleased to announce Laura Price as our Chief Executive Officer, marking a new phase of evolution for the charity as it looks to further counter the reading crisis and boost the number of children and young people in the UK who choose to read.
Laura joins us after six years as CEO at Oxfordshire Community and Voluntary Action (OCVA) where she significantly grew the team, reach and impact of their work and led successful programmes with partners including the NHS, Oxfordshire County Council and HMP Bullingdon. Before this, Laura’s career spanned leadership positions across the voluntary, public and publishing sectors, including editorial and commissioning roles at Blackwell Publishing.
The appointment comes at a key point for the charity as we look to a new chapter, evolving our programmes for the reading landscape of today and inspiring a life-changing love of books and stories in children across the UK.
As CEO, Laura’s focus will be on driving the charity’s long-term strategy, building new partnerships and securing the funding needed to improve the wellbeing and educational outcomes that reading brings. Cherry Land, who has been Acting CEO for the past year, will return to her role of Chief Operating Officer. The Board is incredibly grateful to Cherry for her unfailing support and exceptional hard work during this period.
