Ben Roberts learned of Read for Good’s work when he heard our BBC Radio 4 Appeal in February 2022.
After hearing Hannah share her son William’s story, Ben was inspired to raise money for Read for Good by running the Paris Marathon 2022.
Ben took up running just one year ago in April 2021, and the Paris Marathon – held on the 3rd April 2022 – was his first attempt to run the 26.2 mile distance, which Ben achieved in an impressive 4 hours and 4 minutes! Alongside 45,000 runners who set off from Champs-Elysées, Ben wore Read for Good colours to raise awareness, taking our charity’s message to Paris for the first time in our history.
With an initial fundraising target of £250, in just under two weeks, Ben raised more than double his target, reaching a final total of £652. The money raised will go towards Read for Good’s hospital programme, delivering the magic of brand-new books and professional storytelling sessions to 30 children’s hospitals across the UK.
Ben said, “It is very special to know that the effort is so much appreciated and makes me doubly pleased to have chosen Read for Good to support. I hope that I can find more ways in the future to support your charity.”
