Leicester City Readathon

We joined forces with the Leicester-wide reading initiative Whatever it Takes to unleash the power of our Readathon on schools across the city once again for one glorious fortnight.

The Leicester Readathon took place from 30 September – 11 October 2019, building a buzz about books and the power of stories by asking pupils to read what they love, with events from special guest authors and illustrators and a citywide Drop Everything and Read on the last day (Friday 11 October) that brought together community groups and businesses too.

Leicester schools had this fantastic hints and tips booklet to help their Readathon go with a swing!

For more information email leicester@readforgood.org or ring Annie on 01453 839005.

Money raised on the Leicester City Readathon will go to school libraries (20% of the grand total raised) and fund our important work bringing stories to Leicester Children’s Hospital, as well as the wider work of Whatever it Takes. Last year’s Leicester Readathon raised more than £11,000, but most of all got schools across the city raring to read.
