Intrepid Year 7 students at Chailey School in East Sussex have just completed a very successful  sponsored read, reading a whopping 266 books between them and raising a fantastic £675 for seriously ill children in hospital.

Year 7 students have been very enthusiastic and really enjoyed taking part in the Readathon.  Mrs Duck, Library Manager, said “we are very pleased to be involved in this worthwhile annual event which encourages reading for pleasure and, at the same time, raises money for children’s charities.  I am very proud of the 40 Year 7s who read so many books to raise so much money for Readathon this year”.

All the students who took part in the Readathon received a certificate and 10 merits. The student who read the most books in a fortnight (an amazing 39), and the student who raised the most money (an incredible £110),  each received a book token and a box of chocolates.

Well done Chailey School!
