Unravel Me

Tahereh Mafi

This is the second book in the Shatter me series. This series is not one that you can pick up from halfway through you do need to read book 1 before reading Unravel Me.

Juliette is left shaken when her touch didn’t kill Warner. His mysterious immunity to her power has confused Juliette as she needs protection from Warner the most. Juliette and Adam join up with a group of rebels, many of whom have powers of their own. Juliette will finally be able to actively fight against The Reestablishment and try to fix her broken world. These new allies may be able to help her shed light on the secret behind Adam’s and Warner’s immunity to her killer skin. Throughout the book Juliette manages to learn to control her powers more. She also learns more about Warner and who he really is.

I felt this book was a little slow at the beginning however, overall, I enjoyed this one a lot more than Shatter Me. The characters were developed and described in a lot more detail, the world was built out into something that almost felt real, and there was a building tension with the plot in knowing where it was headed. The book was set at a steady pace that was easy to read and comprehend. A lot of people find Juliette winy and irritating however in my opinion she has had a really rough life and needs to be cut some slack.

I would recommend this book to anyone over the age of 13 and I would give it a 4 out of 5 stars.
