Too Small Tola Makes It Count

Atinuke, illustrated by Onyinye Iwu

Younger readers will think, as we do, that this is a delightful set of three short stories set in Lagos, Nigeria. Tola lives with her sister, brother and grandma in a run-down block of flats. They don’t have much money but they do have friendships in the block and even a chance to go to the beach. Over three separate stories, with wonderful illustrations by Onyinye Iwu, readers are introduced to everyday life in Nigeria and will quickly realise that the problems and solutions Tola encounters are the same worldwide, and that community, friendship and love count above everything.

A really lovely book of short stories for the younger reader.
