There’s a Tiger on the Train

Mariesa Dulek, illustrated by Rebecca Cobb

This is a brilliant story about the adventures a boy has on a train journey to the seaside whilst Dad is on his phone. There’s a tiger, hippos with sweets & tea, crocs with buckets & spades… all causing chaos on the train but Dad doesn’t see a thing because he can’t take his eyes off his phone. Until the tiger lets out a huge ROAR, grabs the phone and races towards the sea!

The wonderful rhyming text and use of the word ‘galumphing’ makes this a fabulous story to read aloud. The illustrations are vibrant and full of action. Evocative of the wonderful Judith Kerr’s The Tiger Who Came to Tea and The Elephant & The Bad Baby by Elfrida Vipont & Raymond Briggs, this is a classic.
