The Doughnut Club
Kristina Rahim
A fresh take on family and what it means to fit in. Hugely commercial and filled with heart, this book is for every reader who needs help being true to themselves. Perfect for fans of Sarah Hagger-Holt and Benjamin Dean.
Quinn’s family is a bit different because she has two Mums and a donor instead of a Dad. When her family discovers that Quinn and her brother Olly have sixteen half siblings Quinn yearns to meet them. Her family holiday becomes an exploration and a new understanding of what it means to be a happy family.
I thoroughly enjoyed this fast paced, fun novel. All the ingredients are there. Annoying brother, unfriendly girl, parental assumptions and helpful outsiders. Add in a beach holiday with adventures, accidents and a very satisfying conclusion. The inclusion of the serious subject of egg and sperm donation is treated in a gently matter of fact and helpful way.
