The Amazing Edie Eckhart (books 1 and 2)

Rosie Jones

KS2 readers will love meeting Edie Eckhart, the eleven year old protagonist in an exciting new series by comedian Rosie Jones.

Edie has cerebral palsy but as she says, “it’s never really bothered me because I’ve never known anything else”. Her disability doesn’t stop her becoming involved in the school play, going away on a camping trip, worrying about what she wants to be when she’s grown up or working out how much pizza she can eat with friends Oscar and Flora.

Edie is a funny, likeable character who uncovers the life of a child with cerebral palsy, as well as living with MS, which Flora’s mum has. The little illustrations scattered throughout make the whole book both accessible and appealing to any reluctant readers. Highly recommended!
