Tales of A Lizard Boy

Jonathan Hill

This is a hugely entertaining book. Written in graphic form with chapters and a clear, colourful layout it tells the story of 12 year old Tommy Tomkins who struggles to fit in at school. Many readers will relate to Tommy’s feelings of struggling to make friends and be like others but the genius of this story is that Tommy is in fact a “Lizard person” whose family are refugees from the centre of the earth. Using his own experiences of being part of a Vietnamese/American family, Jonathan Hill is spot on with his depiction of the perils of school!

This sci-fi story is funny, relevant and would be a great addition to a class library.
