SuperQuesters Mission: Rainforest Magic
Paul Ian Cross, illustrated by Katarina Gasko
Best friends Lilli, Leo and Bea return for a new adventure.
Chomping on bowls of buttery popcorn whilst trying to put up their tent, the trio are interrupted by a very sick guinea pig. As Aunt Bumble goes to get her microscope slides, they feel that familiar tingle and are whisked away on another quest. This time to the rainforest. They soon meet Jamac, a talking jaguar and discover that they need to work together to help save a very sick capybara which will then help their guinea pig friend. The rainforest is full of healing plants, their quest is to find the right ones to help the allergic reaction – including the Moonwhisper Flower. Will they get everything in time and how will they get the medicine into the sick animals?
The reader is brought into the story with puzzles to solve alongside the SuperQuesters. From sequencing to solving the passcode, children (and their grown ups) will be hooked on helping Bea Bumble, Leo Zoom and Lillicorn to save the day! There is a fantastic map, perfect for inspiring young readers to create their own quest world and to help bring the story to life. The book is packed with Fun Facts and a great glossary to help explain any tricky words. The combination of fiction filled with facts is rounded off with some simple science experiments which can be done at home or at school.
These books are a really great way to combine information with a story that gets children hooked and really rooting for the characters. Perfect for KS1 and KS2 classrooms and a lovely short read at home.
