Stitch
Pádraig Kenny
This is a story of monsters, a story of good versus evil. However, these monsters are the good guys and not the bad ones. Stitch and his great friend Henry are monsters who have been brought to life as an experiment by the wacky scientist, Professor Hardacre. Yes, they have been rather crudely put together by the tinkering of their mad creator, but whilst they look odd, ugly and scary on the outside, they have heart, goodness and soul on the inside.
When the professor fails to return to them and his wicked nephew takes over the experiments in the laboratory, it is time for Stitch and Henry to take their lives into their own hands and escape from captivity into the big bad world of humans.
Are you fascinated by monsters? If you are, you’ll love this book and the adventures of Stitch and Henry. They are two monsters who you might think are big, bad and terrifying at the start. Well, yes, they are definitely big compared to you and me, but as you get to know them, you will come to realise that they are not bad or terrifying at all. In fact, having never been exposed to the human world, they bring a whole new perspective to life. They teach us about the value of true friendship and what is really right and wrong.
However, it is their goodness and loyalty to each other which put their own lives in danger. You will love following Henry and Stitch on their different adventures as they try to put the world to rights and show us that monsters can be a force for good in a world where humans can often be wicked and cruel. Nominated for the Carnegie Medal for Writing, Stitch is a great, engaging and page-turning story which is highly recommended.
