Skandar & The Spirit War (Skandar Series: Book 5)
A.F. Steadman
The Island is at war. While Rex Manning is planning an attack on the Mainland, Skandar and his friends, reeling from the betrayal of one of their own, are trying to gather allies, make plans and figure out a way to protect both the Island and the Mainland.
You can expect bloodthirsty unicorns of course – but also nail-biting battles, jaw-dropping twists, high emotion and huge reveals after Book 4’s cliff hanger ending! Within its pages you will find the mainland under threat, siblings forced to confront their past, friends determined to fight for a better future and the Island at war. You will visit new places – the Air Yard, the Somnolent Mountain, the Cloud Cabin – and return to familiar locations both near and far.
I was devastated about those who sacrificed themselves to their hope of a better future on the island. I loved seeing how Skandar, Flo, Mitchell, Amber, Kenna, and Bobby all changed the game and were the heroes together, yet each with their own victories and their own ideas and tactics. They all made contributions and without them, the Island and Mainland would have been doomed. Everyone in the book series fought so hard and they were repaid with loss, but still they persevered, and they broke through the wall they were fighting and built it back up, towards a better future.
This final book took me on a journey, tying up all the loose ends, revealing more about the Spirit element and bringing Skandar’s story to a satisfying end. However, it is important to say that there is a high level of jeopardy throughout the book, and it was an emotional read. The bonds of friendship, family and love weave their way through the story, reminding us how important and powerful they are for humanity. With family and friends beside us, even the impossible seems possible.
I would give this book 5 stars because the way it is written is so beautiful. I would recommend it to fans of Harry Potter and Impossible Creatures.
