Maisie vs Antarctica
Jack Jackman
Oh this is such a good start to a new series! Maisie is quickly going to become my new heroine of original adventures!
Initially, though, Maisie thinks that her widowed dad is the most boring person in the world. True he writes books with titles such as How to wrestle a Crocodile but he never has actually done it. Although strange things do seem to happen when she is with him…
The opportunity to accompany her dad to Antarctica seems like a dream come true but when they arrive Maisie discovers that even more strange things occur. What is going on?
This is a story filled with warmth, humour, a little bit of sci-fi and masses of learning opportunities about the South Pole. It ‘s the first middle grade book I’ve read about the Halley Research Station and the style made me think of the Adventures on Trains series. I’m very excited to see what Maisie will do next – an excellent beginning.
