I was totally hooked on this mixed media YA book based in Hollywood. It’s a quick, gripping read perfect for teens who love true crime & murder. This is the novelisation of Lauren James’ online story ‘An Unauthorized Fan Treatise.’
Delilah wants to be an actress but has a disastrous audition with Sawyer Saffitz, son of Hollywood actress Anya Saffitz. Delilah & Sawyer get hooked into trying to solve a murder which saw the end of Lock & Ness, a hit tv show starring Anya Saffitz. Sawyer’s godfather, who also starred in the show, was convicted of his co-star’s murder but did he really do it or is he covering something up?
As Sawyer & Delilah investigate, the story becomes darker and it appears that someone is trying to stop them from investigating by any means necessary. Using fan blog entries from @gottiewrites, news articles and conversations with Rob Hennings in prison, the pair get in deep to find out the truth!
The story touches on so many issues – obsession, celebrity culture, relationships, deceit, family, social media, fandoms. I could go on. A real reminder to not believe everything you see or read online!
