Iron Flame

Rebecca Yarros

Surprisingly against all odds, Violet Sorrengail has made it through her first year at Basgiath War College. Now, the real training begins. The stakes are higher than ever before, and determination alone won’t be enough to survive this time.

A powerful new enemy threatens everything she cares about, including the man she loves, Violet must do whatever it takes to keep their secrets safe. One wrong move could have horrifying consequences – and as the web of lies spun by those in charge starts to unravel, nothing, not even dragon fire, may be enough to save them in the end.

In this book there are a lot of plot twist that are also very intense, this book pulls on your heart strings and some scenes are very emotional and very sad you may want to get the tissues ready.

In this book you see a new sides of several of the characters from Fourth wing which will make you change your opinion of these characters. You must read the first book first as its not really one you would be able to pick up just from reading book two. Even after reading fourth wing, I found the first half of Iron Flame hard to pick up but it is definitely worth continuing to the end. The ending of this book leaves you on a big cliff hanger which is annoying as I now must wait months for the next book.

I would give this book 4 stars as it didn’t quite live up to the standards of Fourth Wing, however I still really enjoyed this book and would read it again. I would recommend this book to anyone over the age of 16 due to there being quite a lot of violence.
