Dracula & Daughters

Emma Carroll

What happens when vampires are roaming the streets and the only way to cull them is with a stake through the heart? Think again! Enter three girls – Mina, Buffy and Bella who discover that rather than killing the vampires they could actually cure them.

I really enjoyed this. It’s an original take of a well-known story and is a gentle introduction to the horror genre. A brooding atmosphere is set from page 1 as the tale begins with “It’s November: the perfect time to steal a corpse.” In contrast the three girls are delightful, relatable characters. The story is told in the first person from Mina’s point of view. This is the first in a new series, and I have no doubt that children will love it!
