Bringing Back Kay-Kay

Dev Kothari

Lena can’t imagine life without her older brother. When he goes missing it takes all her courage not to fall apart. No one will listen to her as the police dismiss Kay-Kay as another runaway and so Lena sets off to find him.

I thoroughly enjoyed this. The setting painted a very vivid picture of India, the love Lena felt for her big brother was heart-warming and the careful unravelling of what actually happened to Kay-Kay made for compelling reading.

There are themes of the effects of stress on mental health which are handled sensitively but which could promote conversations and did I mention the wonderful poetry throughout the book?  Definitely, a book to consider for a classroom shelf.
