Children reading in library

Library lending up (TICK), pupils discovering new authors (TICK), and on their way to a lifelong love of reading – TICK! Helen Cooper, Librarian at King Henry VIII School ticks all the boxes

King Henry VIII School’s Readathon update:

We’re breaking up for the half term holiday today and I’m trying to catch up with jobs in the Library so that I can ease myself gently back into work in ten days’ time.

Year 7 have enthusiastically embraced the Readathon and lots of pupils are very keen to tell me that they have already read 3 or 4 books and the number of sponsors they’ve got so far.

My hope is that the Year 7 Reading Scheme and its Readathon finale are going to instil in our pupils a lifelong love of reading for pleasure.  They are challenging themselves, discovering new authors and Library lending is significantly increased.

After the break, I hope some of our pupils will also be contributing to this blog.
